Grandmaster James McMurray is the Founder and Director of the House of Discipline Martial Arts Group based in Harker Heights, Texas. Seju McMurray formulated the Moo Hap Sool Kido System which is currently being taught in Afghanistan, Germany, Iraq, Japan, Panama and the United States.
Grandmaster McMurray has studied several martial arts and trained with many renowned teachers including: Grandmaster In Sun Seo promoted him to his highest level of 9th Dan and Seju Rudy Timmerman in Kuk Sool and Kido, Grandmaster Jimmie Brown in Moodukkwan/Nammookwan Tangsoodo, Sensei James Thompson, Ueichi-Ryu, Master Ki Han Lee and Myoung Sik in Hapkido, Sensei Ralph Linquist and Sensei George Dillman in Isshinryu, Master Michael Echanis in Hwarangdo, Master Owen McDonald in Okinawa-Te Weapons, and O-Sensei Philip Porter in Judo/Jujitsu.
His tournament career started in 1973 and ended in 1995 upon his retirement to train members of the U.S. Army Taekwondo team and the Central Texas Junior Olympic Team. He was well respected on the Texas AOK Tournament and NASKA Circuits, as a smart hard nose fighter, weapon competitor, forms competitor (traditional and musical), self defense expert, top breaking expert, and excellent referee because of his fairness, decisive and unwavering calls in every match.
